Saturdays in January: Inversion Workshop Series with Amanda Slawinski
This series, suitable for both beginners and seasoned yogis, will guide you through building and strengthening the foundations for inverting. We’ll create a safe base to find balance on your head, forearms and hands. Join us on this exciting journey of flipping your perspective with curiosity and the joy of learning something new! In each class, we’ll explore the building blocks of inversion practices, including arm balances, headstands, forearm-stands and handstands. Warm-ups tailored to the specific shapes of each session will help prepare your body for the inversions. Partner work will also be included to build confidence in your inversion practice.
The workshop format will be interactive and collaborative, encouraging you to share your experiences and learn from each other. Even if you’re not ready to lift your feet off the ground, this is an opportunity to explore a new perspective in your yoga practice and beyond.

January 11, 2025 - Week 1 - Building and refining the foundation of your inversion practice with an overview of our foundational arm balances — the base from which you can evolve your practice of taking flight. Gather warm-up tools, alignment tips and tricks, and the value of props and support for safely inverting. Exploration of finding your headstand.
January 18, 2025 - Week 2 - Expanding the range of possibility of arm balances and finding entry from different traditional postures in the practice. Returning to your foundational arm balances and seeing how you can shift your body weight to find different variations of a shape. Breaking down your forearm-stand and refining your alignment while inverted.
January 25, 2025 - Week 3 - Creative play with arm balances including threading inversions together and exploring how to shift your body weight to transition from one inversion to another. Building a handstand practice and finding multiple ways in (and out) of this inversion. The ultimate perspective flip of reversing the habitual stacking of the body to find balance on your hands.
Sound therapy has been used to alleviate mental and physical ailments since the beginning of recorded history. In these hour-long sessions, you will relax in a comfortable reclined position while the talented Kristen Cosmi shares her sound magic with you. A practicing healer for over ten years, Kristen will bathe you in the vibrational tones of four different gongs and various other instruments while you reach a deep state of meditation and subconscious healing.
Please arrive in comfortable clothes.
